Safe as Houses: Conference now open for sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities

Safe as Houses, 20 – 22 October

We are proud to host Scotland’s largest networking and knowledge events on ending homelessness.

Across 3 dynamic days (20-22 October), Safe as Houses will explore what is needed to build forward from the last 6 months to make sure that homelessness services – and people directly affected – are not left carrying the can for a global health pandemic.

This year we are going online – but with no zoom doom or webinar fatigue! We are using a specialist conferencing platform to reach further and more creatively – and make sure every delegate gets a unique conference experience.

Join us as an event partner, sponsor or exhibitor and be centre stage at this key event. Find out more about how you and your organisation can get involved in Scotland’s annual homelessness conference here.

Full programme and booking information will be available soon – until then make sure to save the date, 20 – 22 October!

Involving People in Change

Homeless Network Scotland invites you to a series of webinars covering a range of themes concerning the additional impact of Covid-19 on homelessness in Scotland.

Our next live webinar is Involving People in Change on Monday 4 May 2020 | 2–3pm

With the All In for Change Team, this session will highlight the benefits of involving people with lived experience in shaping services and exploring perspectives on current and future involvement in light of COVID-19. It has given us all a better understanding of the importance of choice & control and what it’s like to have restrictions put in place without any say. The systems we take for granted have ground to a halt – our work patterns, socialising, meeting friends and events. For people already going through the toughest times, that’s their normality – lack of certainty, security, contradictory advice, not enough advice, calls not being returned, people not showing up, services not speaking to each other.

For most of us, this will be temporary – but for people that need the most certainty and security while they navigate complicated and contradictory services and systems, normal service won’t be resumed. UNLESS we do things differently…

How are people being involved in decisions that affect them during lockdown?
Moving out of lockdown, how can we involve people in reshaping “normal”?

Connect, Learn & Act
on street homelessness in Glasgow

Please join us at this important summit and be part of a new conversation that will lead to new efforts to consign rough sleeping in Glasgow to history.

Having no roof at all is the most dangerous form of homelessness and it affects us all. It is a risk that no-one should have to take – yet people who endure it have often braved the toughest times and been most disadvantaged by the constant pressures of being skint, an inadequate benefit system and insecure housing.

We all have a right to housing, to dignity and privacy and a safe base from which to build and live our lives.

We all agree it is absolutely unacceptable in a modern city that rough sleeping happens – so what can we all do better to stop it?

Who is this event for?

All local groups and services – big and small – this really needs you!

We especially want to connect with people with frontline responsibilities giving direct support and advice to people sleeping rough in Glasgow. This includes outreach teams, GCHSCP caseworkers, housing officers, health providers, law centres, community safety officers, on-street support and food providers.

And people with experience of rough sleeping, now or in the past – what can we learn from you? Your lunch and travel expenses will be provided, along with a £10 thank-you for your time (please make sure you book your place for this).

If you want to step up and be part of a new approach, please book your place quickly.

We look forward to welcoming you.
